Welcome to “My Brain & I” (AKA my blog).
Why “My Brain and I”?
I read a thought-provoking book a while back entitled, “Solve For Happiness”. In it the author puts forth the idea that your thoughts are not really you. How’s that you ask? The logic is if you can be aware of your thoughts how can they be you? Well, where do your thoughts come from. I have come to the conclusion and subscribe to the idea that they come from my brain. Therefore, my brain cannot be me. Of course, I’m very attached to my brain, I love him dearly and I see him as my best friend, my life-long companion.
You could be saying, “Rudy, you’re nuts.” (Like my wife does.) I hear you so allow me to explain. Have you ever been lying in bed and you want desperately to go to sleep but your brain says no. Your brain is insistent on keeping you awake with endless thoughts, ideas, worries, etc.? Exactly. I knew it. Point made. Proof positive your brain, like mine, is not you.
So I decided to run with that. I’m going to take my brain with me and explore the world. We’re going to share all that we learn as we dive into the subject of longevity (my brain and I are working hard to increase our health span), all things future and whatever else we decide to be curious about. We’re going to read books, watch films, shoot video interviews with smart, cool people and share with you all the interesting stuff we uncover. Feel free to think of us as kooky research scientists; we run experiments on ourselves using our time and money, find out what happens and is notable, and then provide you with the results in the form of text, images, audio and video.
Sound fun? Let’s do it.
Over the years, my brain and I have co-founded two successful companies. Leading the charge was ever easy.
My first company was in the entertainment industry. Our primary focus was documentary production. The entertainment business being what it is, we always had quite a diverse group of people working with us, in both staff and freelance...
I have two words for you to consider:
Chaos and messy.
Some of us are completely comfortable with chaos and/or messiness.
Some of us not so much.
For those of you in the chaotic, messy camp… you’re going to love this.
For those of you that prefer life to be organized and tidy… perhaps not so much.
But, like it or not,...
Ok, I’ll bet your first question is, “What exactly is a Rudyism?” I’m glad you asked.
Rudyisms are my truths. My guiding principles. The phrases my brain and I go-to when we’re stuck, frustrated, need a reminder as to what’s important or we’re in need of a calming, uplifting, logical perspective.

Entrepreneur is one of my favorite words. It can be interpreted in so many ways.
Let’s begin with the dictionary’s definition…
entrepreneur
[ ahn-truh-pruh-nur, -noo r; French ahn-truh-pruh-nœr ]
French: literally, one who undertakes (some task)

This is not as simple of a question as it may seem. To begin, please consider this quote,
“Someone once told me the definition of Hell: The last day you have on earth, the person you became will meet the person you could have become.”1

I really tried to find who wrote this quote but it has remained a...
My brain and I have been keenly aware of awareness lately… sometimes it’s awareness of my acute awareness and other times it’s my complete lack thereof.
There are so many things to be aware of it sometimes makes my head spin (not literally).
Outwardly speaking, there are a gazillion things in the world to be aware of. It...
My brain and I have been having quite a few conversations lately as we ponder turning the big six-oh. The good news is we’ve come to the conclusion that it’s awesome! We’ve arrived at this mindset by reflecting back, considering the present and envisioning the future.
As we conclude our first sixty years on the planet, we have...

My Brain and I are sad today. I just found out that a wonderfully unique and accomplished scholar and gentleman passed away a couple of days ago. We met this intelligent, kind and witty man a little over a decade ago when he was generous enough to sit down for a two-hour interview with my business partner and I for our Imagine It! Project. We...

My Brain and I plan on living a long-long time. There’s so much to do in life and so if we want to experience all these things and meet all the people we’ve yet to meet, we really have no choice. I mean, the alternative is not at all...
