“I thought a few pics from my past along with some notes might be fun and insightful. Enjoy.”
1960: I was born
Me and my 19 year old Mother, Ursula. She met my Dad in Germany when he was in the military. She didn't speak a word of English or know a single person other than my Dad when she stepped onto US soil.
1960: Ursula Dehn
My cute mom, before me I assume.
1960ish: My Dad
My Dad was shooting pics for the local newspaper in his teens. No wonder I like to shoot photos.
Isn’t that cute?
My bro and me... when he was my "little" brother.
1956ish: Grandpa, Grandma & a Chevy
Before I was ever born. I'm guessing 1956 by that Chevy.
1208 Neilson, Berkeley, CA
The house I spent many years growing up in. My grandparents bought it in 1926 for $1500. I lived there off and on through my childhood... and all through art college (upstairs in the attic behind that little window). to get to my room, I had to climb a ladder that pulled out of the ceiling after we dropped the kitchen table leaf. I could stand up straight in in the middle of my room which ran the length of the house but my head would hit the peak of the roof. It was awesome.
Bu Boys
Us at the Malibu Pier.
Last Pic
the last time I was ever photographed with my Dad. He died 6 months later. I have now lived longer than him.
Classic Dad
The iconic pic of my father.
1984 Fireball-Worlds
My brother Scott and I on our boat "Balls Out" during the Fireball World Championships in 1984. We got our clocked cleaned (40 something out of 60 something) but that was serious fun.
Tandem Jump
Pretty sure this was a one time only thing. 15 minutes of training on the ground then 15 minutes later I'm at 8,000 feet in a tin can of an airplane with a bumpersticker on the bulkhead that read "Are we having fun yet". The pilot kicks the door open, it slams up against the wing and he yells... "Get out". Ok then. I put my foot on the wheel, convinced it's going ot spin away from me and drag both me and my "partner" out of the plane into an 80 mile per hour, 30 degree wind. That didn't havppen but when we let go of the plane we did a backflip (something my jump partner neglected tell me about on the ground) and down we went. Then it got better... fun for a while until the ground started racing up on us as we fast approached a barbed wire fence. We missed the fence by 20 feet but the parachute draped across it. I wouldn't want to be the next guy jumping with that chute. Got a great pic though.
My boy Adam.
Adam at the top of the world.
Grandpa
I snapped this of my Grandfather as he come down to the marina to see me off on my trip from SF to Catalina. It's a classic.
Sears Point
Back in the day that will come again. Nothing better than driving a racecar.
Rudy Poe Porsche Pits
Me.. in the pits next to my ride.
Shifter Kart at speed
I figured it out!
Frog men
Me and the boys in Hawaii.
Rudy Poe Porsche Willow
Back in the day that will come again. Nothing better than driving a racecar.
Selfie-sort of
In Chicago at the Kidney bean.
President Rudy
When I went to the White House to film President Bush, I couldn't resist the photo op when the press room was empty.
Couch Poe-tatoes
Me and the rest of the Poe boys.
