For decades I have been a huge fan of quotes. They’re nuggets of wisdom from people far more intelligent than I and can verify this because I didn’t think of them and I didn’t say them. I wish I did.
Voices is simply a curated list of my favorite quotes. They have been very helpful to me over the years and so I thought I’d share them with you; perhaps some of them will strike a chord with you as well.
They come from resources far and wide, and I add to the list from time to time. I also plan to expound on some of them as the basis of some posts in the My Brain and I blog. If I do, they will link to the post.
You may however find an occasional Rudyism in the list which is something I tend to say. Perhaps I said it first, perhaps not, but they are my go-to phrases that I’ve borrowed, tweaked or simply made up myself. They are my truths and so I thought I’d include them in this list just in case they may benefit you. Feel free to steal them and make them your own -ism if you think they can serve you as well.
Enjoy!

Voices of Leadership
As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.
- Bill Gates
I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that crates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration, I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person is humanized or de-humanized. If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming.
